Life-Saving Station and WindFloat simulate rescue in wind farm in the middle of the sea in Viana

The members of the Viana do Castelo Lifeguard Station participated in a joint exercise with the WindFloat Atlantic project, of WindPlus, which consisted in the simulation of a rescue, by sea, of an accident’s victim on one of the wind platforms of the WindPlus wind farm, off the coast of Viana do Castelo.

The purpose of this exercise was to recognize access and approach to wind platforms, as well as to verify the installed capacities and emergency procedures implemented, in case there is an accident on a wind platform.

During the exercise, the members of the Viana do Castelo Lifeguard Station rescued a victim using a vessel, having accompanied the performance of man-to-sea exercises, simulating the fall to the sea and rescue operators of these wind platforms.

In this exercise were engaged four members of the Lifeguard Station of Viana do Castelo, supported by a vessel.
