The WindFloat Atlantic team recently participated in the Protecting the Oceans initiative, an international program created by Ocean Winds, the majority shareholder of the WindFloat Atlantic project, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of preserving and conserving marine and coastal ecosystems, with a particular focus on combating marine pollution through beach monitoring and cleanup activities.
These initiatives aim to raise awareness of the impact of marine litter on these ecosystems, especially plastics, highlight the importance of protecting and conserving biodiversity, and encourage active citizenship.
At the same time, they contribute to creating a more sustainable environment by acting locally in the communities where the project is present and protecting the surrounding areas.
This week, the team had the opportunity to clean Praia do Cabedelo in Viana do Castelo, where WindFloat Atlantic is based. The activity was supported by APLM – the Portuguese Marine Litter Association – and carried out in collaboration with local entities, including Viana do Castelo City Council, bringing together more than 40 participants.
